Afghanistan is holding discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to privatize its New Kabul Bank, a commercial bank. The treasury chief Alhaj Mohammad Aqa told Reuters that two attempts that were made to sell the bank earlier failed to find a suitable buyer for the loss-making bank. The original Kabul Bank is said to have collapsed in 2010 with debts of almost $1b.
