Divestitures of 70,000 billion Tomans carried out

In response to a question regarding the emphasis of Supreme Leader about the complete implementation of the policies of Principle 44, what programs the government have, Seyed Shamsedin Hosseini, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance in an interview with with Fars News Agency reporter said: "After notification of the policies of Principle 44 and ratification of the mentioned law, the country involved with huge transitions."

He stated: "Structure reforms policies are not policies that show their effects soon." He added: "In the past, the government invested in different sectors while the results of this investment caused an increase in size and weight of government in the economy higher than non-governmental and private sectors. However since this law has been notified, the government did not invest except in special cases which allowed."

 

*The significant presence of private sector in investments

The Minister of Economic Affairs emphasized: "absence of government in the investments causes the presence of the private sector." He highlighted: "For example, so long as banks and insurance companies belonged to the state and private sector was not allowed to invest, it was not any chance for nongovernmental sector activity. But at present, 17 nongovernmental insurance companies are created from 20 insurance companies in the country, except Central Insurance which would indicate the implementation of Policies of Principle 44 of the Constitution.

Hosseini reiterated: "Asia and Alborz Insurance Companies are split-down in the stock market and they are privatized completely. The Minister of Economic Affairs announced the presence of Dana Insurance Company in the stock market during the last week.

He mentioned to the divestitures of State banks to the private and nongovernmental sector and then declared: "Number of private banks is increasing rapidly. But if there was not the law, private banks were not permitted to be active as such.

 

The government does not intend to create the State banks, unless necessity.

The Minister of Economic Affairs emphasized: "According to implementation of the mentioned law, Tejarat, Mellat, Saderat and Refah Banks are divested." He added: "The government does not intend to create the state banks unless it was needed, like Cooperative Development Bank (Taavon Bank) and then to create it.

Dr. Hosseini stated: "Iran Insurance Company is remaining by the state, while its representation is privatized or being privatized. He reiterated: "the presence of nongovernmental sector is increased in Iran economy and based on it the investment of the government is prohibited in many cases by law. In the future, we will better handle this structural change in favor of the private sector.

 

Divestiture of 70,000 billion Tomans

Hosseini continued: "even if we consider the divestitures in the Stock Market, in this4 years were nearly 9fold of all divestitures,"

He underscored: "15 newly formed organizations including Cooperative Development Bank, Cooperative Guarantee Fund, and the competition council and provincial investment staff, are within the execution of Supreme Leaders remarks and policies of Principle 44 of the Constitution.
