Iranian Privatization Organization

The head of Iran Privatization Organization (IPO) stated Minister of youth and sports has declared ready to divest Esteghlal Football Club and Perspolis Football Club to private sector and stated “At this stage IPO awaits official communication between ministry of finance and ministry of youth and sports to be completed. Upon completion, required tasks will be undertaken.”
Public relations liaison of Iran Privatization Organization (IPO) reported Ali Ashraf Pouri-Hosseini, Head of Iran Privatization Organization on divestiture of Esteghlal F.C. and Perpolis F.C. commented “4 rounds of auction sale had already taken place and the divestiture was due to complete on the 4th round of auction sales, but suddenly in August 2015 cabinet ratified a bill that excluded health, education and culture entities from divestiture to private sector and divestiture of enlisted entities were consequently postponed. “
He added “Although Iran Privatization Organization was completing final stages of the divestiture and had taken all the necessary steps, later no one bore the responsibility when the divestiture was cancelled. Consequently all the fingers were pointed to IPO without any reason. “
In his final comments Head of Iran Privatization Organization mentioned minister of youth and sports declared ready in the past 2 months to divest the two football clubs to private sector and stated “At the moment we await official correspondence of minister of youth and sports with minister of finance and upon completion necessary steps for this divestiture will be taken place by the IPO and as soon as the bill of August 2015 is abolished, divestiture can take place. “
